In a stellar performance during the 2024 Ranji Trophy, Bhuvneshwar Kumar emerged as the key player for Uttar Pradesh on Day 2 against Bengal. Having claimed five wickets by Stumps on Day 1, he continued his dominance by picking up three more on the following day, ultimately securing his 13th five-wicket haul and achieving career-best First-Class figures of 8/41. His exceptional bowling display led to Bengal being bundled out for 188.

Bhuvneshwar showcased his prowess with the new ball, dismissing key Bengal batsmen such as Saurav Paul, Sudip Gharami, and Anustup Majumdar on Day 1. On Day 2, he continued his rampage, removing Shreyansh Ghosh, Pradipta Pramanik, and Suraj Jaiswal. This remarkable feat marked Bhuvneshwar's return to red-ball cricket after a hiatus since January 2018.
